FISH

Acoupa Weakfish
The Acoupa Weakfish, lives in the rivers of South America. This species is most commonly fished in the delta of the Amazon River for its tasty meat. It does not exceed more than 1.30 metres. The organic tanning process, guaranteed not to use heavy metals, makes this very light leather and at the same time very strong.

Arapaima
The Arapaima is one of the largest freshwater fish in the world, living in the deep waters of the Amazon basin. It can reach lengths of up to 3.5 metres and weighs around 300 kilos. The skins are recycled after the meat was sold to be eaten. The tanning process is organic using totally biodegradable products, the skin becomes strong enough to be used to make bags.

Eel
Eel is very famous in the chinese and japanese cuisine and makes delicious sushi. Most eels live in the shallow waters of the ocean and burrow into sand, mud, or amongst rocks. The eel leather is smooth and with elegant horizontal stripe-like patterns. It's just simply good to look at. Many believe that eel leather may prevent disaster, and according to Greek mythology it brings good luck & health.

Salmon
Wether fished in the atlantic ocean or farmed in Scotland, Norway, Canada and Chile, the flavoursome pink flesh of salmon is one of the most popular in the world. Since the 1980s, carcasses have been recovered from factories to be made into leather. After tanning, the skins are smooth and soft despite the texture of the scales, and are extremely supple.

Leather Care

General
To keep a fine leather product looking new and lustrous, it should be properly cared for. A regular cleaning with a dry cloth is essential for preserving the life of your leather goods. You can add moisture to leather to seal it and keep it from drying. Always keep it in a clean dry place.
Your fish and snake leather accessories will last decades and continue to look new if properly cared for. You will enjoy them for a long, long, long time.

Dirt
Dirt can usually be removed by wiping it off by using a clean cloth. The cloth can be barely moist. Saddle soaps and other cleaning detergents are not to be used. These remove the natural oils of the leather and instead of protecting leather may cause permanent damage.

Storage
In keeping your leather pieces, it is best to avoid having the leather items come into contact with each other. The finishing may cause the leather items to stick together. Wrap you bag or leather accessorie in the ADELINE GERMAIN dust bag to avoid excessive drying of the leather.

Store your leather products in a well-ventilated, cool and dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures, whether hot or cold and humidity. Your leather should not be exposed to direct sunlight or heat for long periods of time. It will cause your leather to dry.

Fish leather
There is no specific product on the market to care for fishskin. To clean them, the best thing is to take a clean, soft, white cloth and gently wipe in the direction of the scales over your bag or accessory.
